About MBS

At Minnesota Behavioral Specialists, we have over 50 years of combined experience in the area of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in both center and home-based settings.

We recognize that every child learns differently. That's why we develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's unique strengths, needs, and goals.

Our collaborative approach brings together experienced clinicians, behavior therapists, and families to create meaningful learning opportunities that promote lasting progress.

Our goal extends beyond teaching individual skills, we focus on helping children develop independence, confidence, and the ability to apply what they learn across a variety of environments. By actively involving families throughout the therapy process, we empower caregivers with practical strategies that support continued success long after formal therapy sessions have ended.

Why Minnesota Behavioral Therapists?

Choosing an ABA provider is an important decision, and we are committed to providing compassionate, individualized care that places your child's growth and your family's goals at the center of everything we do.

At Minnesota Behavioral Specialists, we combine clinical expertise with a relationship-focused approach to deliver high-quality, evidence-based services. Our experienced team partners closely with families to develop personalized treatment plans that address communication, social, behavioral, adaptive, and daily living skills.

In addition to ABA therapy, we offer Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluations (CMDEs) to determine medical necessity and guide the development of each child's Individual Treatment Plan (ITP). Our focus is on helping children make meaningful progress while equipping families with the knowledge and confidence to support continued growth in everyday life.

In-home ABA Services

Learning happens everywhere, not just in a therapy center. Our in-home ABA services allow children to build meaningful skills within the comfort and familiarity of their own homes and communities.

Serving families throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area, we provide individualized in-home therapy programs ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week, with both full-time and part-time scheduling options available based on each child's clinical needs.

Because therapy occurs in the child's natural environment, our clinicians can target skills that directly support everyday routines, family interactions, and community participation.

Sessions may include opportunities for:

  • Communication and social skill development

  • Daily living and self-help skills

  • Community-based learning experiences

  • Peer and sibling interactions

  • Collaboration with schools and other service providers

  • Generalization of newly acquired skills across settings

Each therapy session is individualized to the child's treatment goals, ensuring that every learning opportunity contributes to meaningful, functional progress.

Our Belief

We believe every child can succeed and thrive in this world.

Our Goal

To help each child succeed through the integration of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. These techniques help provide the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary for each child to thrive. We help children with autism develop new social, communication, self-care, and self-management skills through individualized ABA therapy.

Our Vision

To help children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) grow, learn, and develop the necessary social skills to interact with their peers successfully, while also providing support to help families grow and succeed.

Questions

Questions parents often ask

What is ABA therapy?

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy helps children with autism learn new skills by understanding how each child learns and what motivates them. Therapists break big skills like communicating needs, playing with friends, or getting dressed into small, doable steps, and celebrate every one along the way.

Isn't ABA rigid or old-fashioned?

ABA has changed a lot over the last 20 years. Today's ABA is individualized, play-based, and focused on your child's comfort and willingness to take part. At MBS, we build on what your child enjoys and teach what to do, rather than focusing on what not to do.

What ages do you work with?

[CONFIRM] We serve children from age X to age X. Reach out and we'll talk through whether we're a good fit for your child.

Where does therapy happen?

We offer full-time, center-based therapy at our Bloomington center and in-home therapy across the Twin Cities metro. We'll help you decide which setting is the best fit for your child and family. [CONFIRM center location and in-home service area]

Is ABA therapy covered by insurance?

[CONFIRM] Many families' ABA therapy is covered through private insurance or Minnesota Medical Assistance. We'll help you understand your coverage before you get started.

How is ABA different from occupational or speech therapy?

Occupational therapy focuses on motor and sensory skills, and speech therapy focuses on language and communication. ABA looks at how your child learns across everyday life and builds skills step by step. Many children benefit from more than one, and we're happy to work alongside your child's other providers.

How do we get started?

Start with a free 15 to 20 minute consult. It's a relaxed conversation where we get to know your family, answer your questions, and talk through next steps. No pressure and no commitment.
